Let's Talk to the World

It is wonderful to be able to read and speak in another language. This is also another way to explore our world. Learning a foreign language makes your own grammatical skills stronger because every language has a different stucture. Along with making your own reading skills even stronger, it gives you the added benefit of gaining insight into another culture. When children are learning a second language, it is also a lot of fun to look at a globe and see the entire world, and where the other country is located in relation to their own.

For some additional insight, if you could diagram the way different languages work, English is a language that moves in straight lines. It gets right to the point. An example would be "I will go, or I will not go." Other languages would diagram differently and want to discuss other things before the point is made. This is all so fascinating. Some languages have the adjective in a different place. Knowing these things will build fluency in another language and assist in learning about the culture. It is also very helpful if there is a way to practice and have back and forth interaction with another person to strengthen your skills. Go out to dinner and see if you can speak in the other language while you are there. Another good idea is to watch a television channel that offers programming in another language. Before you know it, you will be able to follow it whether it is a movie or the evening news.
